Multi-Color Corporation Announces Plant Closing
Jan. 9 -- Multi-Color Corporation today announced plans to consolidate its heat transfer label (HTL) manufacturing facility located in Framingham, Mass. into its other existing facilities. The transition will begin immediately with a final plant closure within the next several months.
Flint and Unirep Partner in Joint Venture
Jan. 9 -- Flint Group, a world leading supplier to the printing and packaging industry, and Unirep, a major supplier to the Turkish paper and packaging industry, announce that they have established a joint venture in Turkey. The joint venture, "Flint-Unirep Packaging Inks," based in Istanbul, has been formed to serve the local packaging market. Turgay Gümus has been appointed General Manager of the new Joint Venture.
Dow Chemical-Rohm & Haas Deal OK with EU
Jan. 9 -- The Dow Chemical Company indicated it has been informed of the decision by the European Commission under Council Regulation (EC) No. 139/2004 declaring its proposed acquisition of Rohm and Haas Company compatible with the European common market.

Smurfit-Stone Closes Box Plant, Laying Off 120 Workers
Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. announced Friday it will close its Jacksonville box plant in the first quarter of next year.
The box plant employs 32 salaried workers and 88 hourly workers, said Mike Mullin, Smurfit-Stone director of media relations and public affairs. The facility fashions two types of paper stock into corrugated cardboard material and folds it into boxes, he said.
