A winding defect, in my opinion, has a winding solution. The cases in the previous post are just a few of the scores of problems seen on wound rolls that are in fact not winding problems. In the sub-case of loose cores caused by winding on wet cores, the amount of hygroscopic shrinkage of the core is far greater than tight winding can overcome.

Smurfit-Stone Closes Box Plant, Laying Off 120 Workers
Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. announced Friday it will close its Jacksonville box plant in the first quarter of next year.
The box plant employs 32 salaried workers and 88 hourly workers, said Mike Mullin, Smurfit-Stone director of media relations and public affairs. The facility fashions two types of paper stock into corrugated cardboard material and folds it into boxes, he said.
